The digits in FEH are not written by Chopin's hand, hence it is uncertain whether they come from a lesson with Chopin. category imprint: Differences between sources |

The fingering, written probably by the hand of the pupil in FEH, was changed in this bar – the a-g transition was initially marked with the 2 and 3 digits. The correction could have been suggested by Chopin, which is indicated by further compliance with the entry in FED. In the main text, we include the indication of the latter, whose authenticity is unquestionable and which specifies the unobvious use of the 1st finger on a black key, crucial for a comfortable grip of the chord in the next bar. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FEH |

The entries in FEH, probably performed by the pupil's hand, develop the basic fingering idea contained already in bar 283 – the use of the fingers 2 and 1 on the last two semiquavers of each bar. category imprint: Differences between sources |

The only digit written in FEH was given also by Fontana. Moreover, it is most probably a fingering envisaged by Chopin, since it is difficult to imagine another one here. However, it is not so obvious in the case of Fontana's indications at the beginning of bar t. 288 – g2 may be as well performed with the 4th finger. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FEH |
