Fingering
b. 190
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
Fontana's fingering is almost certainly identical with the indication in FED, stemming from a lesson with Chopin. In that copy, apart from the evident digit '2,' written twice in a way typical of FED, first by Chopin, then by Madame Dubois, there is a visible delicate line next to the a1 quaver. The mark could be interpreted as a digit '1,' yet it is uncertain, hence in the main text, we give only the '2' described above. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Both source fingerings are generally concordant – the only doubt concerns the continuation of the fingering in the L.H. in FEH (the concordance is perfect with complementary indications in analogous bar 548). However, their possible authenticity is uncertain. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FEH |

b. 196-198
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
Out of the two digits visible in FEH in analogous places in bars 196 and 198, in the main text we include only the first one, written probably by Chopin. This entry confirms Fontana's fingering, at least in its part from the 3rd to the 6th semiquaver in bar 196. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FEH |

b. 203-210
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The fingering, marked with details in EE by Fontana, undoubtedly coincides with the Chopinesque fingering, indicated with a few digits in FED. We give the latter in the main text, since it came into being during a lesson with Chopin, although it was most probably only in 203 that the fingering was written by Chopin himself. The same fingering results also from the additions, performed by a foreign hand, in FEH. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FEH |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The fingering digits present in EE and FEH and those written in FED and FEFo undoubtedly denote the same fingering. In the main text, we give the indications whose authenticity is most likely (FEFo and FED). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FEH , Annotations in FEFo |
