According to us, the placement of the  mark, which we interpret as a long accent, is probably inaccurate in FE – admittedly, Chopin would often use a  combination, yet both indications would be then written next to each other and on the same level. In this case, the accent was supposedly to concern both parts and not the L.H. only, which is suggested by the notation of FE (→GE). A short accent in GE3 is a result of interpretation of the discussed mark, performed in the light of bar 646.

In FE, there are no sharps raising g2 to g2 (in both bars) and c3 to c3 (in bar 649). In GE1 (→GE2), the first two were added; the notation in EE and GE3 is fully correct.

Long accents for both hands suggested by the editors

..

As a result of comparison of the indications of FE in bar 646 and 648-650, we interpret the  mark in this bar as a long accent, referring to both hands. The mark was placed lower also in GE and EE. The overspread mark in GE3 results from the actions of the reviser who considered it to be diminuendo only, since he did not figure that it could be an accent; it is possible that he wanted to align that diminuendo with the descending part of the passage.

In FE (→EE1), there are no cautionary naturals before g1 and g3; however, they were added in GE and, probably on the basis thereof, in EE2 (→EE3).

In the main text, we omit the unnecessarily repeated sharps before c2 and a1 in the 2nd group of semiquavers. The former was removed already in GE1 (→GE2), the latter – in GE3.
