Issues : Accidentals in different octaves

b. 425

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE (→EE), the  before the last semiquaver was overlooked, which was corrected in GE. Moreover, instead of a  before the 8th semiquaver (c2) the majority of the sources (except for GE3) feature a respective mark on the 5th semiquaver. It is related to the use of an octave sign to write the 1st beat of the bar.

On the 2nd and 3rd beats of the bar, there are no accidentals in the R.H. in FE; the  raising G to G in the L.H. is also missing. In GE1 (→GE2) and EE, a mark was added in the L.H., whereas in the R.H. sharps were added only in the 2nd group of semiquavers, which was most probably considered sufficient due to the notation of that group with the use of an octave sign, hence at the same pitch as the 3rd group.

b. 428

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE, there are no sharps before the 6th semiquaver in the L.H. (c2) and the middle semiquavers on the 3rd beat of the bar in the R.H. (c3 and d3). All those patent inaccuracies were corrected in GE, whereas in EE it was only the mark in the L.H. that was added.

In FE, there are no accidentals on the 2nd and 3rd beats of the bar in the L.H. In the layout adopted by the majority of the editions, i.e. the first two semiquavers of the R.H. on the bottom stave, both sharps on the 3rd beat of the bar are to be considered necessary. The accidentals were added in GE1 (→GE2); moreover, a  was added before c1 at the end of the 2nd group of semiquavers. In EE, a  was added before the last notes of the 2nd and 3rd groups. The layout of GE3 corresponds to the one adopted in our system; that edition contains all necessary sharps.
