Issues : Long accents
b. 291-295
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
The inaccurate reproduction of the long accents, very frequent in the Concerto and other pieces by Chopin, is very likely in this context. Due to this reason, in the main text we suggest this kind of accents. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Editorial revisions issues: Long accents |

b. 307-310
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
As before, in the main text we suggest long accents in bars 307 and 310, more suitable for minims in this harmonic context. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Editorial revisions issues: Long accents |

b. 308-309
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
The accents in EE were added most probably on the basis of both analogous bars 292-293 and adjacent bars 307 and 310. In the main text, we suggest a similar addition; however, we apply long accents, just like in the remaining bars. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Long accents , EE revisions |

b. 351

When interpreted literally, the in FE (→GE) is puzzling, since denotes a local dynamic climax, after which one should rather expect a diminuendo, not to mention a crescendo on one note, problematic to perform on the piano. Therefore, we are probably dealing with an inaccuracy or even a mistake. One can imagine two possibilities – the mark was misplaced (e.g. moved to the right with respect to the notation of [A]) or reversed. In the main text, we are inclined to agree with the first possibility due to a similarly distorted hairpin in the Concerto in F minor, op. 21, the 2nd mov., bar 84. The absence of the mark in EE1 (→EE2) seems to be an oversight, corrected in EE3. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , EE revisions , Errors in EE , Sign reversal |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The mark over the 3rd beat may be interpreted as an accent – long in FE (→GE) and short in EE – or a short diminuendo hairpin. However, the latter is highly unlikely from the practical point of view, since after the previous , performing this motif could easily deprive it of clarity. Due to this reason, we assume that the marks represent accents. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , EE inaccuracies |
