b. 514

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No mark in FE (→EE) & GE3

Wedge in GE1 (→GE2)

..

In the main text, we include the wedge added in GE1 (→GE2). Omission of the mark in FE – cf. wedges in the analogous bar of exposition (bar 159) and similar bar 510 and 516 – could have been a result, unintended by Chopin, of proofreading the pitch and rhythmic text of the L.H. in this bar.

b. 514

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slur in FE (→GE)

Slur in EE

Same slur suggested by the editors

..

In the main text, we add a slur over the initial motif of the theme, which is not encompassed with a slur only in this place (cf. bar 25, 29, 155, 159 and 510). An identical slur was added in EE.

b. 515

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No marking in FE

 in GE & EE

..

In FE, the absence of a  mark, ending the pedal depressed at the beginning of bar 514, must be considered an inaccuracy in this context. The mark was added in GE and EE

Staccato dot in FE (→EE)

No mark in GE

..

The lack of staccato dot in GE is surely an oversight.

b. 516

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur form 2nd note in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Slur form 1st note in GE3

..

An earlier beginning of the slur in GE3 could have seemed to be justified considering the lack of staccato dot.
