No pedalling in A (→GE)

Pedalling added in  FE (→EE)

In A (→GE) pedalling stops in bar 45 (Chopin began to write it in again halfway through bar 57). In the proofing of FE (→EE) Chopin supplemented the markings in bars 45-52.

A more probable interpretation of the slur in  A

The slur in GE (→FEEE)

..

The slur is drawn inaccurately in A and poses interpretation difficulties, particularly its right end. For reasons discussed in notes to bars  2-3 and 26-27 we consider it more probable that it was supposed to reach a flat1 . In the editions, that slur embraces only bar 46.

The slur of A interpreted in context.

A possible reading of the slur of A

GE (→FEEE)

..

The moment of beginning the slur in A is unclear; from the graphic point of view both options  seem likely, yet the comparison with analogous bars 3 and 27 makes us decide in favour of a longer slur, in line with the interpretation contained in the editions.
