b. 67

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

The fact that some fragments of the melodic line were left without slurs is almost certainly an inaccuracy of notation, hence in the main text we suggest completing the slurring. The version of EE must be a result of a revision, in which the existing slur was supplemented with another one, modelled after analogous b. 29. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions |

According to us, the missing accent on the syncopated L.H. chord must be considered an inadvertence of the engraver of FE or of Chopin himself. This bar is a repetition of the preceding one, enhanced by the harmonic tension of the dissonant chord, which excludes a performance without accent. At the same time, both bars are the starting point for the structural stretto of the next two, in which crescendo is based on the accents derived from the syncopations of the discussed and preceding bars. The accent was already added in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions |

In the main text we suggest adding a asterisk in accordance with the harmonic content (after the previous bar). The mark was also added in EE. There is a similar situation in b. 216. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , No pedal release mark |

b. 73-74
|
composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

In the main text we add a cautionary before b2 in b. 73. The accidental was already added in GE as well as in EE2. Moreover, we add flats lowering c1 to c1 in b. 73 and c to c in b. 74, overlooked in FE. The former was added both in GE and EE, while the latter only in GE and EE2. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Errors repeated in EE |
