b. 245

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

No slur in FE (→EE)

..

We add a slur for the last triplet in the bar, undoubtedly overlooked by the engraver (or Chopin). A similar addition was most probably performed by the reviser of GE.

b. 247

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

It is difficult to unequivocally prove where the difference between the pitch of the 3rd quaver in the accompaniment in FE (→EE) and GE came from. Both sources do not reveal any explicit traces of corrections. We assume that it is most likely that Chopin corrected the original (perhaps even erroneous) version of FE in GE. However, the evidence is inconclusive, hence we add a variant of the base source, FE, to the main text.

b. 250

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

No signs in FE (→GE,EE1)

Staccato dots in EE2 (→EE3)

..

In EE2 (→EE3), the reviser arbitrarily added staccato dots for the R.H. in the 2nd half of bar 250 – probably by comparison with similar melodic and rhythmic figures in the adjacent bar. Assuming the legitimacy of this addition, it is impossible, however, to understand why he did not introduce a similar solution in analogous bar 136 or why the marks are only in the R.H.

b. 254-255

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

GE has cautionary  next to gin bars 254 and 255. These superfluous signs were also in FE, yet they were removed, most probably in the last proofreading. In EE3, the reviser added both signs, perhaps by comparison with GE.
