b. 77

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

a3 in FE (contextual interpretation) GE & EE3

 a3 in EE1 (→EE2)

..

FE does not have an accidental before the last note in the bar. In this type of situations, Chopin generally considered the previous signs placed an octave lower to be binding (e.g. like in the case of the previous note, g3), however, it was not a strict rule. Both GE and EE specified the sound of this note, yet each differently – GE added a , whereas EE1 (→EE2) – a . A comparison with similar figures in this and in the previous bar provides an argument for a3; the conclusion is confirmed by the cautionary  before ain the next bar. The version with awas introduced also in EE3.

b. 77

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

In GE there is no cautionary  before c3. The mark was most probably added – perhaps by Chopin – in FE (→EE) in the last phase of proofreading, since no place was provided for it while laying out the text in FE.

b. 78

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

The cautionary  next to awas most probably added in the proofreading of FE. Since it is absent in GE, the addition was most probably introduced in the last phase of proofreading.

b. 79

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

GE includes a superfluous cautionary  next to g2. Initially, the natural was also in FE, but it was removed in the last proofreading. The sign is present also in EE2 (→EE3), which may be explained by GE being used at the time of revising EE2.

b. 81-83

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

..

GE does not have a cautionary  before e2, the 2nd note in bars 81 and 83. The signs were most probably added in the last proofreading of FE (→EE), perhaps on Chopin's initiative.
