Slurs
b. 472-473

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

GE1 (→FE→EE) omitted the top slur, perhaps due to its atypical shape, resulting from corrections. The mark was added in GE2 together with top slurs in all similar figures. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccurate slurs in A , Corrections in A , GE revisions |

The missing slurs in A is a typical oversight of Chopin, related to the transition into a new page. GE1 (→FE→EE) added only the bottom slur, which, taking into account the double slurs in the adjacent bars, seems to be a simplified correction (or revision). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Errors of A , Authentic corrections of GE |

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

The slurs of A are most probably a result of an unfinished correction – Chopin initially wrote two short slurs, but instead of continuing to divide the passage into motifs, he added a second slur, combining it with the previous one. The process was finished in GE (→FE→EE), in which a continuous slur runs from the beginning of the bar. According to us, it is highly likely that the slur was proofread by Chopin in GE1, which is indicated by:

b. 503-504

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

In GE1 (→FE), bar 503 is the last one in the line. However, contrary to GE1, the notation of the slur in FE is erroneous – the slur in bar 503 ends on the last quaver, although the beginning of the slur in bar 504 suggests continuation. EE interpreted it as an inaccuracy of the slur in bar 504 and separated the slur at the transition between these bars. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE |

Nothing indicates the authenticity of the slurs in the L.H. added in EE – they actually correspond to the slurs in the R.H. with their division at the transition between bars 503-504 resulting from accumulation of inaccuracies. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions |
