b. 438

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A there is no  returning c4. The harmonic context and a comparison with an identical figure four bars earlier prove Chopin's mistake. The sign was added already in GE (→FEEE).

b. 439-440

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In the main text we add a cautionary  before g2. At the same time, we omit a similar, yet less justified sign, present in the sources before gin the next bar.

Short accent in A (probable reading) & GE2

Long accent in A (possible reading→GE1FEEE)

..

The accent in A may be interpreted as both short and long. According to us, the use of a short accent is more likely – the top, shorter arm, written first, seems to convey Chopin's intention better. However, the sign was interpreted in such a way only in GE2.

Accent in EE

..

The accent added on the dminim in EE is most probably a revision (unification with the previous bars), although due to the similarity of the bars, a mistake cannot be excluded.
