Change of the time signature from  to  is one of the most characteristic inaccuracies of first editions of Chopin's works – see e.g. the Sonata in B minor, Op. 35, 1st mov., bar 1.

b. 23

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

The first octave in the L.H. in A is a quaver, so that the bar includes only 7 quavers. The mistake was corrected in GE (→FEEE), by replacing the quaver with a crotchet, which we consider an accurate interpretation of the notation of A: Chopin probably erroneously repeated the rhythmic value of the chord in the R.H., as it was in the four previous bars.

Tie to f1 in A (→GE)

Slur in FE (→EE)

..

The Chopin manner of writing ties as short curved lines placed close to a second note caused an inaccurate and misleading reproduction of the tie of fby GE1. In FE (→EE) the curved line was given an unambiguous form of a phrase mark, combining the last quaver in bar 31 (b) with the 1st crotchet in bar 32.

b. 77-78

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

frepeated in A

f1 tied in GE (→FEEE)

..

It is difficult to clearly state how the differences between A and the editions came to exist. Chopin's proofreading cannot be excluded in this place, yet, according to us, an erroneous reproduction of A is much more likely – cf. an analogous phrase in bars 3-4, in which the repetition of f1 is confirmed with an accent and probably also with a corrected slur.

b. 80

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In A the b and bsemiquavers were written as quavers. Chopin's mistake was corrected already in GE1 (→FEEE, →GE2).
