cresc. in GE (→FEEE)

..

In the main text we give crescendo after A, divided into syllables and extended over one and a half bars. Replacing this notation in GE (→FEEE) with a conventional cresc. abbreviation certainly does not come from Chopin.

FE (→EE1) has b as the 3rd semiquaver. Corrections of this mistake made in pencil are in FED and FEJ, the correct text was introduced also in EE2 (→EE3).

b. 179

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Instead of the trill –  – present in A (→GE), FE (→EE1) has an octave sign (8- - -). The striking error was corrected by Chopin in FED. The correct version was restored also in EE2 (→EE3), probably on the basis of comparison with GE1

Staccato dots in A & GE2

No marks in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

The overlooked staccato dots on the gcrotchet in bar 179 and the 1st chord in bar 180 are certainly mistakes of GE1 (→FEEE). Both signs were added in GE2.

The omission of the  sign in GE1 (→FEEE) is certainly an oversight. The sign was added in GE2 after A. Chopin did not mark the moment of pedal release, considering it to be obvious or he simply forgot it. In the main text we suggest adding a  in the spirit of the Chopin harmonic pedalling. Cf. bars 335-336.
