b. 260-261

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

No slur in A (→GE)

Slur to end of bar in FE (→EE)

Slur to bar 261 suggested by the editors

..

The very fact of a slur having been added in the proofreading of FE (→EE) by Chopin does not raise doubts, yet its range seems to have been reproduced inaccurately. Therefore, in the main text we suggest a slur led to the beginning of bar 261, after the slur written with Chopin's hand in an analogous motif two bars earlier.

b. 261

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Accent in A & GE2

No mark in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

The missing accent is certainly an oversight of the engraver of GE1 (→FEEE).

b. 261-263

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

cresc. - - in A

cresc. in GE & EE2 (→EE3)

No indication in FE (→EE1)

..

We give the cresc. marking, together with the dashes marking its range, after A (see also bars 263-264). In GE the marking was put slightly further and the dashes were overlooked, whereas FE (→EE1) does not have it at all. The absence of the indication in FE could be explained by a mistake of that edition or by a repetition of the original error of GE1, which was corrected in GE1 only in the last phase of proofreading. The indication was added in EE2 (→EE3) on the basis of comparison with GE1.

b. 263-264

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

No dashes in sources

Dashes suggested by the editors

..

In the main text we suggest extending the dashes marking the range of cresc. until  in bar 264, in accordance with the musical sense.

b. 263-264

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In A the second halves of these bars are written in an abbreviated manner as minims with a quaver tremolo. In GE1 and subsequent editions, the quavers were written without abbreviations.
