In the main text we give the pedalling added by Chopin in GC and repeated more or less accurately in GE and EE2. As the added pedalling differs from the indications in the analogous fragment of the exposition (bars 61-64), which may have resulted from haste at the time of writing it, we suggest a pedalling based on the indications of the exposition as an alternative.

The pedalling of this fragment was added by Chopin in GC (→GE). It was also repeated in EE2, almost certainly after GE1. See also bars 198-204.

 in bar 198 is the last sign of pedalling, added and non-deleted by Chopin in GC (in the middle of the next bar one can see a deleted sign, which could have been a  asterisk). It is hard to decide what the reason for stopping the entries could have been, yet the most likely answer seems to be distraction. In any case, it certainly does not mean that one should stop using the pedal. In the main text we add indications on the basis of the authentic pedalling in similar bars 70-80. In GE1 the last written sign was considered to be a mistake and hence omitted, it was however reinstated in GE2.

Chopin added the stretto indication in GC (→GE). It was repeated also in EE2.

FE1 (→FE2→FE3) lacks in a  before the bottom most E1. Chopin corrected his oversight in GC (→GE), EE and FE4 also include the correct version.
In the proofreading of FE4, a cautionary  before e1 in the R.H. was also added. A similar addition was introduced in EE2.
