b. 216-217

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

..

The slur over the pair of octaves is overlooked in FE1. The mistake was corrected already in FE2.

b. 228-229

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

No accidentals in GC & FE1 (→FE2EE1)

Naturals in GE, FE3 (→FE4) & EE2

..

The absence of the naturals raising g(1) to g(1) is almost certainly a mistake of Chopin who partially corrected his error in the proofreading of FE3 by adding a  on the 2nd crotchet in bar 228. In FE4 the second necessary  was added, yet both signs are only in GE and EE2.

b. 232

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

..

In GC and FE1 (→FE2FE3) there is no  before the top most note of the 3rd crotchet in the R.H. The patent inaccuracy was corrected in GE, EE and FE4. In all sources a  was unnecessarily repeated before g1 in the chord in the L.H.

in bar 244 in FE (→EE)

No pedalling in GE1

Our alternative suggestion

..

In the main text, we give a  sign on the basis of FE (→EE), as these are the only sources, in which the asterisk is present at all (in GE1 the  sign was also overlooked). Our alternative suggestion is an asterisk [] in a place in which it was added – probably by Chopin in the base text to EE – at the first appearance of this place (bars 55-56).
