Issues : EE inaccuracies

b. 11-12

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

No marks in GC (→GE)

Long accents in FE

Short accents in EE

..

No accents in GC (→GE) is almost certainly an oversight of the copyist, who overlooked all signs between the staves in bars 7-13. The short accents in EE are certainly a result of the standard interpretation of the notation of FE.

b. 12

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

 in GC (→GE)

No sign in FE (→GE)

..

No  sign in FE (→EE) is certainly an oversight of the engraver – there is a respective sign in analogous bar 200, but both bars were printed on the basis of the one and only notation of [A].

b. 24

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

..

In GC and FE (except for FE4) five necessary accidentals are missing – the naturals before d1d2 and b and sharps before f2 and g2. This patent inaccuracy certainly stems from the notation of [A]. Three of them were added in EE1, four in FE4; only GE and EE2 include the correct notation.

b. 28

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

Different accents in GC (→GE)

Long accent in FE

Short accent in EE1

Two short accents in EE2

..

In the main text, we give the accents, long and short, on the basis of the clear notation of GC (→GE). The omission of the second one in FE is probably a result of the engraver's oversight. The EE1 version is a typical misrepresentation of a long accent, and GE was the probable inspiration for the EE2 revision.

b. 29-30

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

..

The notation of accidentals in this passage is inaccurate in the sources, which, however, does not impede the interpretation of the correct text. In GC and previous FE, eight sharps are missing – before fcf1 and c2 in the L.H. and before c2f2c3 and f3 in the R.H. In EE, GE and FE4 the signs were added, but only GE2 includes the fully correct notation.
