  b. 61-65

Slur in bars 62-63 in GC (→GE)

Slur in bars 61-65 in FE (→EE)

Our alternative suggestion

The slur of GC (→GE) is certainly inaccurate, both as far as the moment of its beginning and ending is concerned (bars 64-65 are written on a new line, which frequently provokes mistakes consisting in omission of continuation of slurs or dynamic hairpins). On the other hand, the beginning of the slur of FE (→EE) is probably inaccurate too, which is indicated by the interpretation of the same slur of [A] in the recapitulation (bars 249-253). The inaccuracy was probably reduced by Chopin in the base text to EE by adding staccato dots over the 1st octave in bar 61. Therefore, as an alternative for the slur with a dot, we suggest – based on the recapitulation – most probably the original slur written in [A] from the 2nd crotchet in bar 62.
