b. 37

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

a1 in Amar, GC (→GE), FE & EE2

c2 in EE1

..

The version of EE1 – here and in bar 53 – was introduced only in print, hence it probably does not come from Chopin. Due to this fact – differently than in bars 35 and 51, 45 and 49, in which the appearing in EE different versions can be very likely considered to come from Chopin – we do not consider this variant to be acceptable. EE2 returned the version of the remaining editions, certainly on the basis of comparison with one of them (it cannot be excluded that it was checked in the base text that it was not a change introduced by Chopin).

The second quaver is written in Amar as f. The deletions seem to prove hesitation concerning the pitch or notation of this note. As a consequence, Amar does not include a  before e, the 6th quaver.

In the 2nd half of the bar, a cautionary  is written in Amar before the penultimate quaver in the R.H. (g2), and not before g1 in the L.H., as in the remaining sources.
