b. 6

composition: Op. 27 No 1, Nocturne in C# minor

No mark in GE (→FE)

Accent in EE

..

The accent in EE is certainly an arbitrary addition by the publisher, introduced by analogy with an authentic accent in similar bar 89.

b. 9

composition: Op. 27 No 1, Nocturne in C# minor

in GE and EE3

No sign in FE (→EE1EE2)

..

The lack of in FE (→EE1EE2) results most probably from an oversight of the engraver. There is no visible sign of a hypothetical deletion of the sign during the proofreading of FE. The hairpin added in EE3 is the first from a few revisions of this kind introduced in this edition.

Our suggestion—a long accent

..

The first editions do not have any long accents other than the marks in bars 11 and 83 that could be interpreted as such. It is almost certain that this does not correspond to the notation of [A], as that type of accent belonged to Chopin's favourite markings. In the outer sections of the Nocturne, we propose long accents in the main text instead of short ones that appear in the editions, as we consider the former to be much more probable than the latter.

b. 15

composition: Op. 27 No 1, Nocturne in C# minor

No sign in GE (→FE)

With an accent in EE

..

An accent appearing in EE is definitely an inauthentic addition echoing the sign in analogous bar 11.
