The portato dots are placed below the notes in FE (→EE). Shifting markings to the head side of notes is one of more frequent engravers' mannerisms in Chopin's times. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Placement of markings |

The crescendo hairpin appears only in EE, modelled probably on the sign in analogous bar 91 although placed differently, i.e. below instead of above the upper staff. However, in the editors' opinion the analogy here fails to include dynamics, as Chopin probably wanted the dynamic line of the phrase in bars 90-93 to differ from that in bars 23-26 – in the Nocturne ending more emphasis is placed on the last bar, provided with additional accents and the indication con duolo. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions |

Both dynamic markings added in EE1 (→EE2) and EE3 are definitely arbitrary additions introduced by the revisers of EE. A similar revision was introduced in bar 92. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions |
