b. 16

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

..

Before the 1st semiquaver of the last group, GC and FE have no accidental, which, due to the fact that 11 previous notes in the R.H. (together with d1) were written on the bottom stave, is only an inaccuracy. GE1 added a  before this note. In turn, the absence of this sign in EE1 (→EE2) and GE2 (→GE3) is a mistake, as in these editions – same as in mUltimate Chopin – the entire part of the R.H. is written in this bar on the top stave.

GC (→GE1) and FE repeated the  before b, the 2nd semiquaver of the last group. The unnecessary in this context sign was removed in EE and GE2 (→GE3).

Two fingering digits in GC (→GE) & EE3

Five digits in FE

No fingering in EE1 (→EE2)

..

FE includes more fingering numerals than GC, in which there are only two numerals (written with the copyist's hand), or EE1, which does not include any. Additional indications in FE were added either still in the base text (yet after having been copied by Gutmann) or in the proofreading of this edition. The fingering of EE3 probably comes from GE.

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

Accents in GC (→GE) & EE3

No marks in FE & EE1 (→EE2)

..

In GC (→GE) accents on the 4th beat of these bars were probably added by Chopin. EE3 repeated them, probably on the basis of GE.

b. 27-30

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

..

In the passages including a few octaves, there are no accidentals in the sources, which, however, does not raise doubts concerning the text intended by Chopin.

In GC there are no sharps needed in the notation of f1f2 in bar 27, ff1f2 in bar 28, f2f1 (L.H.), c1 in bar 29 and fd2 in bar 30.
In FE the same signs apart from the sharps before f1 in bar 27 and f1 (L.H.) in bar 29 were omitted; moreover, the  raising d2 to d2 in bar 29 was overlooked.
GE1 completed the signs overlooked in GC except for the  raising f1 to f1 in the L.H. in bar 29.
In the remaining editions – EE and GE2 (→GE3) – all necessary signs were added.

Combined suggestion by the editors

..

The fingering versions of GC (→GE) and FE complement each other (and they generally overlap). In turn, the version of EE1 (→EE2) is most probably incomplete and erroneous.
