composition: Op. 25 No 7, Etude in C♯ minor
..
The sign in GC does not seem to be an accent on d1 – it is clearly placed between the notes, rather closer to the c1 quaver and it is clearly symmetrical in relation to the hairpins in bar 23. Short accents visible in this place in FE and EE suggest, however, a possibility of an inaccurate reproduction of the notation of [A] by Gutmann. Therefore, we suggest a long accent as an alternative interpretation of the notation of all sources. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents |

composition: Op. 25 No 7, Etude in C♯ minor

The hairpins were added by Chopin in GC and most probably in the base text to EE. In the main text we reproduce the range of the sign in GC, the versions of the remaining sources are probably (EE) or certainly (GE) inaccurate. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Scope of dynamic hairpins , GE revisions , Authentic corrections in GC |

The missing hairpins in EE1 (→EE2) is almost certainly an inaccuracy of notation – it was either Chopin that forgot to add them in the base text or the engraver who overlooked them. category imprint: issues: EE revisions , Errors in EE |
