b. 10-15

composition: Op. 10 No 9, Etude in F minor

Mordents in AI

No ornaments in A (→FEGE,EE)

..

The mordents over d2, the 3rd quaver in bars 10-11 and 14-15, appearing only in AI, were omitted in the version prepared for print.

b. 10-12

composition: Op. 10 No 9, Etude in F minor

Slur in AI

A (→FEGE,EE)

..

The shorter slur of AI (written in bars 3-4) certainly does not reflect Chopin's complete intention in terms of slurring. We give the unambiguous slur of A (→FEGE,EE).

b. 14-16

composition: Op. 10 No 9, Etude in F minor

Slur in AI

FE (→GE,EE)

..

The slur of A gradually fades due to the ending ink, hence it is uncertain where it was supposed to end, according to Chopin. The short slur of AI is probably fragmented (cf. bars 2-4). In the main text, we give the unambiguous slur of FE (→GE,EE), which could have been proofread by Chopin.

b. 16

composition: Op. 10 No 9, Etude in F minor

..

In AI the minim is written on the level of e1. It is certainly an inaccuracy related to the working nature of the manuscript.
