b. 105

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

..

In FEG Chopin wrote the leggiero indication over the R.H. part. It is similarly placed also in FE and EE. However, in GE the indication was placed between the staves, contrary to Chopin's inscription in FEG.

b. 108-116

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

Thirds in the sources

Permissible variant with sixths

..

Assuming a possible authenticity of the variants of EE in analogous bars 44, 52, 76 and 84, we should admit its use also in bars 108 and 116.

b. 112

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

e1 in FE

Third in GE & EE

..

There is no con the 2nd crotchet in FE0 (→FE), probably due to a misinterpretation of the autograph. Chopin added this note in FEG (→GE) and in the base text to EE.

b. 113

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

d1-e1 in FE

d1-e1-g1 in GE & EE

..

The d1-e1 second in FE is the original version – in FEG (→GE) Chopin added a gnote to it. EE also has the completed version with the d1-e1-gchord. Therefore, the fact of leaving the original version in FE must be considered as Chopin's oversight.

..

The f2 note on the 4th quaver in FE0 (→FE,GE) must be considered as the engraver's error (overlooked by Chopin): all analogous places have g2. EE has the correct version with g2
