b. 26-32

composition: Op. 10 No 11, Etude in E♭ major

..

In A Chopin made a mistake and wrote the word ritenuto in bars 26 and 32 as rittenuto. The error is absent in the editions, probably it was already corrected by the engraver of FE.

Pedalling in A

GE1 & EE

GE2 (→GE3GE4)

..

The detailed pedalling in bars 26 and 28 of A was inaccurately reproduced in the editions – in both bars the  mark was moved under the 1st quaver in the bar and in bar 26 the  mark was put too far.

b. 26

composition: Op. 10 No 11, Etude in E♭ major

 in A (→FEGE1,EE)

GE2 (→GE3GE4)

..

Moving  to the beginning of the bar in GE2 (→GE3GE4) is certainly a missed revision of the editor.

composition: Op. 10 No 11, Etude in E♭ major

Wedges & dot in A

Dots in FE (→EE) & GE3 (→GE4)

Dots in GE1 (→GE2)

..

According to us, the chords at the beginning of bars 27 and 29 in A are provided with wedges (in opposition to dots in bars 26 and 28). In the editions both marks were reproduced as dots.

In GE1 (→GE2) the dot over the 1st chord in the R.H. in bar 28 was omitted.

Slur in A, GE & EE

No slur in FE

Our suugestion

..

The correct phrasing of the motif in these bars, although not marked by Chopin, is undeniable, therefore, in the main text we suggest a slur based on the adjacent bars. The slur of A is a typical triplet slur and if Chopin had paid attention to this place, he would have probably added a phrasing slur or prolonged the existing one.
