b. 30-32

composition: Op. 10 No 12, Etude in C minor

Demisemiquavers in A

Semiquavers in FE (→GE,EE

..

Double dotted rhythm (with a demisemiquaver) at the end of bars 30 and 32 in A was changed by Chopin during a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). The change has an undeniable impact on the expressive character of these motifs, however, it also cannot be excluded that it is related to the acceleration of the Etude's tempo, which was also introduced in a proofreading of FE. Cf. bar 27.
In FE bar 32 includes an erroneous rhythm, as the e1-e2 quaver is extended with two dots, despite the fact that the next octave is a semiquaver. It may be a result of an inaccurately performed proofreading.

Slurs in A (→FEGE,EE

Our suggestion

..

In the sources the slur abruptly ends after the 1st beat of the bar. It is an inadvertently left element of the original slurring. In the following part of the bar, as well as in bar 32, there are visible traces of extending and combining the slurs in A.

In A (→FEEE) there are no flats before the 8th and 16th notes in the L.H. This patent inaccuracy was corrected in GE.

In A (→FE) there is no  before the 2nd note on the 3rd beat in the bar (f) nor a  before the 2nd note on the 4th beat (a), which was corrected in GE. In EE the missing accidentals were gradually added:  in EE3 in EE4.

In GE1 the  before the 1st note in the L.H. (F1) was omitted.

A has an unnecessary  before cbefore the chord on the 4th beat in the bar, yet it does not have the necessary  raising f1 to f1. In FE the chord was left without any accidental, which was corrected in EE3. The additions were also performed in GE1 (→GE2), in which the accidentals are placed before each note. In GE3 (→GE4) three upper accidentals were removed, therefore, also the necessary  before f1. An unnecessary revision was also performed in EE4, adding a  before c2
