In the main text we give the undoubtedly authentic fingering of FE (→GE). In EE it was completed with a digit added by Fontana, which indicates a different fingering than the one by Chopin.

The sharp in front of f2 in bar 6 is present only in EE, while the  in front of a3 in bar 7 appears only in the later impressions and editions (EE4 and all GE,s except for GE1). Moreover, in CLI there is no  in front of f1 in bar 6. Those discrepancies does not influence the reading of the text, yet they result from the gradually specified rules governing the accidentals.

In FE there are no ties sustaining the upper notes of the octaves in bars 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. According to us, the most probable explanation is a kind of misunderstanding at the time of changing the original brief notation of the octaves with the use of 8 under the upper notes for regular notation.

The cautionary  in front of f is absent in CLI and GE1. The lack of the sign in GE1 suggests that the sign was added only in the last proofreading of FE, which is confirmed by visible traces of introducing changes.

Long accent in FE

Short accent in GE1 (→GE2→GE3) & EE

The accent sign in FE is clearly different than in bars 1-2. Most probably, according to Chopin's intentions, it was supposed to be a long accent. Both in GE and in EE it was rendered as a casual short accent. In GE4 (→GE5) the sign was omitted, which was probably a mistake.
