In CLI there are no naturals returning a1, d2 and f2. The accidentals were also absent in FEcor, in which Chopin, however, added all of them. Eventually, both FE (→GE,EE) and Ap have the correct notation. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Omissions to cancel alteration , Authentic corrections of FE , Errors of CLI |

The cautionary natural before c1 in the L.H. was added in one of the last proofreadings of FE (→GE,EE). The manuscripts do not have a sign in this place. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE |

In the main text we give the dots with which Chopin provided all quavers in these bars in FEcor. Ap also has dots, yet only over two bass notes in bar 38. See also bar 37. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

The fifth on the 3rd beat of the bar in CLI is probably the original version. In the sources Chopin's hesitation is also reflected, as far as the position of the cautionary before c1 is concerned. In the main text we adopt – following FE (→EE2→EE3) – the sign before the chord on the 3rd beat of the bar. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: EE revisions , GE revisions , Accompaniment changes , Authentic corrections of FE |

In the main text we give a long accent on the basis of clear handwritten entry by Chopin in FEcor. The sign in FE (→GE1) is significantly shorter, yet it can still be considered a long accent. Later GE and EE already have a common short accent (except for EE2, in which the sign was overlooked). The accent under the part of the L.H. in Ap should also be considered as rather a short one. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Authentic corrections of FE |
