b. 60

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

..

A includes a  before the penultimate semiquaver (superfluous), in turn, it does not include any sign before the last one. This patent oversight was corrected already in a proofreading of FE1 (→FE2,GE,EE). In the main text we omit the superfluous  before f3.

b. 60

No accidental in A (→FEGE1)

Our suggestion

..

Before the 2nd semiquaver of the last group, there is no accidental in A (→FEGE1), which formally gives c2. A few accidentals, overlooked in A in bars 57-60, allow for assuming Chopin's inattention also in this case. In the entire 4-bar section, in the parts of both hands he used only the notes of the key of F major as transitional notes (second semiquavers of each group). Deviation from this rule in the last figure, based on a chord which directly introduces this key, would be completely incomprehensible. The natural was added in EE and GE2 (→GE3GE4).

b. 61

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

..

In A the last quaver is the F-c fifth, yet the bottom note in FE1 is a G. This patent error was corrected in all remaining editions.

b. 61-66

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

No fingering in A

Fingering '4' in FE (→GE)

Fingering in EE

..

Chopin added the digit '4' at the beginning of bar 61 in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). In the latter, Fontana completed the indications concerning the fingering in accordance with Chopin's previous hints. In bar 62 two mistakes were committed – over there is the digit '4' determining the 5th finger, then the 1st finger was indicated for a1.
