b. 42

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

No dot in A or EE

A staccato dot in GE (→FE)

..

A dot over f2 appearing in GE (→FE) may be Chopin;s addition. Its omission in EE is certainly a mistake.

b. 42-43

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

A long accent in bar 42 in A

An accent in bar 43 in GE1 (→FE)

No accent mark in EE

A short accent in GE2 (→GE3)

..

An accent under the syncopated octave f2-f3 in bar 42, longer than usual here in A, was printed at the beginning of bar 43 in GE1 (→FE). In EE the accent was omitted altogether, which is probably an error. In GE2 (→GE3) the accent returned to its proper place, but in the form of an ordinary short accent instead of a long one.

b. 42

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

The editors' proposition

..

In the editors' opinion, the absence of an accent - a long one, as in bars 38 and 40 – at the beginning of bar 42 is the result of Chopin's inattention, therefore we suggest adding it. A similar revision was made in GE2 (→GE3), yet with a short accent added in both those German editions.

b. 43

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

..

In GE2 (→GE3), a staccato dot was arbitrarily added over the crotchet g flat2-g flat3.

b. 43

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

No dynamic marking in A

 in GE (→FEEE)

..

In our opinion,  the second marking  that can be seen between the staves in GE (→FEEE) is either the engraver's mistake or an addition resulting from proofing. Cf. bars 19 and 105.
