b. 225

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Crotchet d3 in A (→GE)

Quavers in EE & IE

Crotchet b2 in FE

..

In GE we can see traces of removal of the top quaver beam and the stem to f2, which are present in the remaining editions. This means that the mistake consisting in printing them was committed in GE and that the correct text of this edition resulted from proofreading, performed after the GE copies serving as bases were handed over to the other publishers. The FE version most probably resulted from an unfortunate revision of this initial, erroneous version.

b. 226

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

g2 tied in A (→GEFE,IE)

g2 repeated in EE

..

The missing tie to g2 is most probably an oversight by the engraver of EE1 (→EE2).

b. 226

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In the main text we add a cautionary  to g2, whereas we omit the  to d2 in the 2nd half of the bar, unnecessarily repeated in A. The latter was also performed in GE (→FE,EE,IE).

Short accent on A

Long accent in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

We reproduce the A accent as a short accent due to its small size and its position, almost axial with respect to the note. GE (→FE,EE,IE) feature a long accent, which, according to us, is a less likely interpretation, yet not out of the question.

b. 227-228

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A there are no flats to d2 in bar 227 and to gand G in bar 228. All the accidentals were already added in GE (→FE,EE,IE).
