The long accent of A was reproduced in GE as a mark whose range is in between the short and the long one, hence it is unclear whether it should be short or long. However, it is longer than typical short accents, e.g. in bar 153, hence we consider it a long accent. In the remaining editions it was interpreted as a short accent. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in GE |

In A the accent mark in this bar is shorter than in analogous bar 177; however, it is highly likely that the same mark should be used in both places. This is how it was reproduced in GE, in which the accents are of the same length. Their interpretation is not obvious, yet they are clearly longer than typical short accents, e.g. in bar 153. Taking into account the above, we reproduce the discussed mark as a long accent in both sources, which we also provide in the main text. The absence of the mark in FE must be an oversight. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in FE , EE inaccuracies , |

The issue of the presence and the type of staccato marks at the beginning of the bar may be questionable. In A the mark over C may be interpreted as a small wedge or an inaccurate dot; however, it is unclear whether the faint blot over the R.H. chord (to the right of the chord axis) bears any meaning at all. In the main text we assume the existence of two marks, which we reproduce as dots. An alternative solution includes only the unambiguous mark over the L.H., interpreted as a wedge. According to us, the version of the editions devoid of any marks does not comply with the A notation. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , Wedges , Inaccuracies in A |
