Title: Fantaisie
Dedication: Madame la Princesse Catherine de Sonzzo

Second impression of FE1, made shortly after it, in which the majority of errors was corrected. Part of the changes and additions to FE2 derives with certainty or great likelihood from Chopin, while others are almost certainly the work of a different hand.

Changes almost certainly introduced by Chopin:

  • adding pedal markings in bars 2-3, 12-13, 16-17 and 18, as well as in bars 43-48;
  • removing g on the 2nd beat of bar 36;
  • changing the top note of the last L.H. chord in bar 254 from a1 to b1;
  • adding  in bar 322.

Erroneous or dubious changes, most probably inauthentic:

  • adding a tie to the c1 grace note in bar 9;
  • changing the top note on the 3rd beat of bar 10 from a1 to c2;
  • changing d to B in bar 55.

The majority of the changes introduced into FE2 were supposed to correct the generally obvious errors. At least some of them could have been noticed by Chopin, yet such corrections could have been introduced simply by comparing the text with [FC]. All mistakes mentioned in the description of FE1 were corrected (sometimes partially – e.g. only some of the overlooked accidentals were added); moreover, for example, a cautionary  was added to b1 in bar 71 and to e1 in bar 77.
