composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

In A (→GE) the semibreve rest is placed on the bottom stave, over the semiquaver sequence. This notation may be misleading: the rest on the bottom stave concerns the L.H. (if it concerned the R.H., it would be on the top stave), yet it being over the semiquavers suggests a reverse hands position – the rest in the R.H., and the figuration in the L.H. Due to this fact, in the main text we put the rest under the semiquavers. In FE (→EE1) the rest was overlooked, while in EE2 it was added after GE1.

b. 70-71

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

..

The fourth L.H. triplet was deleted in A and rewritten on the stave below. However, the change rather concerned the rhythm and the way the R.H. part was written, since the pitch of the L.H. notes remained unchanged. According to us, the correction consisted of 2 stages, while the subsequent versions preceding the final text looked like as follows:

b. 72-73

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

f1 repeated in A (→GE) & FE1

f1 tied in FE2 (→EE)

..

It seems unlikely that the tie to f1 added at the stage of proofreading FE2 could have corresponded to Chopin's intention – cf. bars 70-71 and 159-160 and 239-240. It cannot be ruled out that this tie was left by mistake instead of a slur under the first two quavers in bar 73 (such a slur is present in A).
