b. 144-146

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

..

In the 2nd half of bar 144 and 146 there are no accidentals in A. Chopin was generally convinced that notes written at the same pitch do not require repeating accidentals regardless of the presence of an octave sign. The then contemporary rules were not fully established yet, which is proven by the fact that the notation was left unchanged in FE1. Eventually, however, both FE2 (→EE) and GE added all accidentals. Similarly, in further such passages.

b. 144-146

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

4 long accents in A (→GE)

2 long accents in FE

Long accent in b. 144 in EE1

3 short & 1 long accents in EE2

2 short & 2 long accents suggested by the editors

..

The long accents entered into A (→GE) at the beginning of bar 144 and 146 are probably inaccurate, which is indicated by a comparison with respective marks in analogous bar 148 and 150 as well as 224-230 and 311-315. Due to the above, in the main text we suggest short accents here. The absence of these marks in FE almost certainly means that Chopin added them to A after [FC] had been finished. In EE1 out of two FE accents only the first one was reproduced, whereas in EE2 the three remaining ones were added – as short ones – after comparing it with GE1.
