b. 87

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

No signs in A (→GE)

Arpeggio signs in FE (→EE)

..

The arpeggios in this bar were certainly added – at the stage of proofreading FE1 or earlier to [FC] – by Chopin. Similarly, in bars 91-92.

b. 87

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

..

In A Chopin put a  only to the 4th quaver (g2), considering an analogous alteration in the 4th triplet (g3) to be obvious. In FE (→EE1) there are no accidentals in the R.H. part, which must be a mistake. The correct notation with two flats is present in GE and – most probably on the basis thereof – in EE2.

b. 87-88

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

..

In A (→FE1) there are no accidentals in the 2nd half of bar 87 nor in the 2nd triplet in bar 88. They are inaccuracies, typical of Chopin, resulting from his habit of omitting 'obvious' accidentals when repeating schematic figures based on one chord (bar 87) or from the conviction that the accidentals are valid in spite of the use of an octave sign (bar 88). In FE2 was added to a1 in the 3rd chord in bar 87 and to a2 in bar 88. EE and GE include all the necessary accidentals.

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Two-bar pedal in A (→GE)

Pedal in b. 88 in FE (→EE)

..

It is difficult to say what the origin of the FE pedalling is. It does not seem to be a mistake, since a pedal encompassing only the descending fragment of the passage is present in FE also in bars 91-92. Nevertheless, it cannot correspond to Chopin's final intention, since in all further analogous places – bars 174-175, 178-179, 254-255 and 258-259 – all sources unanimously include two-bar pedals.

b. 90

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

..

In A (→GE) there is no  raising d to d in the middle of the bar, which was corrected in FE (→EE). On the other hand, Chopin wrote a  to d1, the 8th quaver in the bar, repeated by all editions. We omit this superfluous accidental in the main text.
In the main text we add a cautionary  to e at the beginning of the bar.
