Slurs

b. 240

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Separate slurs in A (→GE) & EE

Continuous slur in FE

..

Chopin would encompass rests within phrases with a slur a number of times, e.g. in bar 245 and 249. However, this is not that kind of situation, hence the continuous FE slur is almost certainly a mistake, perhaps resulting from the inaccurate slurs of [FC]. It was considered a mistake already in EE. In the main text we give the unequivocal A slurs (→GE).
Similarly, in the next bar.

b. 241

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Separate slurs in A (→GE)

Continuous slur in FE (→EE)

..

As in the preceding bar, the continuous FE slur (→EE) is most probably a misunderstanding in the interpretation of [FC].

b. 244-245

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Slurs in A (→GE) & EE2

No slurs in FE (→EE1)

..

The slurs were most probably added to A after [FC] had been finished – hence their absence in FE (→EE1). In EE2 the slurs were added on the basis of GE1.

b. 260-261

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Slurs in A (→GE) & EE2

No slurs in FE (→EE1)

..

The absence of slurs in FE (→EE1) probably means that Chopin added them to A after [FC] had been finished. In EE2 the slurs were added after GE1.

b. 261-262

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Slur to c2 in b. 261 in A (→GE)

Slur to c2 in b. 262 in FE (→EE)

..

As in bars 94-95, the difference in the slur's range probably results from the inaccurate interpretation of the 'encompassing' A slur, yet this time the excessively long slur appears in FE (→EE). In the main text we provide the A slur, compliant with the phrase structure, correctly interpreted in GE.
