FE1 was based on the lost autograph [A] and was corrected by Chopin. The most significant Chopinesque change is a new ending of the Mazurka, bar 64. We regard the change of the chord on the 3rd beat of bar 48 as an improvement as well.
FE1 contains a few mistakes, some were probably repeated after [A], e.g.:
- the rhythmic mistake – most probably overlooked quaver flag to d2 in bar 8;
- overlooked accidentals – sharps to e1 in bar 31 and 63, to g2 in bar 39, 45 and 47.
