Chopin wrote the staccato dot in A; it is also present in GE and EE. FE has a wedge here – perhaps such a sign was in the lost base text (manuscript) for FE. As a matter of fact, the editors would interpret Chopin's wedges as dots or in an arbitrary manner, they consciously changed them; in this case, the sign had to be clear enough for the editors not to revise them. category imprint: Differences between sources |
