The fact of removing the programme indication of Marche's character in the proofreading of FE3 (→FE4) can be certainly ascribed to Chopin. The composer replaced it with a neutral tempo indication, Lento. The use of the adverb suffix -mente was characteristic for pieces of young Chopin. In the main text, we include the proofreading – probably by Chopin – in FE (→EE). In A, the pesante marking is written high on the top stave, while its beginning falls over the slur.
