According to us, the  indication is to be interpreted as valid already from the beginning of the bar. It is one of examples of the manner of introducing indications within the scope of their validity, used sometimes by Chopin, particularly in his earlier works. In GE (→FEEE was most probably linked with the entrance of the L.H.

No signs in GE (→FE,EE)

The missing dynamic hairpins under the L.H. part are almost certainly a mistake by the engraver of GE1. It is difficult to determine the exact range of the marks in A, since their arms are of different length.

b. 335

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

As in the entire Variations, while writing A Chopin treated accidentals almost like key signature accidentals – he considered them to be valid in all octaves on a given stave and in a given clef. Therefore, in the R.H. part the last entered accidental is a  to d1, while in the L.H. part it is the sharps to Df and all starting from d2 that are missing. All necessary accidentals – assuming that they are also valid for notes at the same pitch under the octave sign – were added already in GE (→FE,EE, in the latter the notes under the octave sign were also provided with accidentals).

b. 348

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

The indication Solo is present only in GE and EE; in both editions it was probably added by the revisers. The absence of the indication in FE suggests that in GE1 it was added in the last stage of proofreading.

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

mid-bar in FC

at end of bar in GE

..

In the main text we give the  mark in the middle of the bar, as written by Chopin in FC (it is one of the possible interpretations of the notation of A). In turn, the version of GE may be considered an interpretation of the notation of FC, perhaps accurate, since  in FC is close to the next  (cf. also the pedalling of FC 4 bars later).
