b. 305-306

composition: Op. 49, Fantaisie in F minor

Slur to end of b. 305 in A, literal reading

Slur to beginning of b. 306 in GE

Slur to b. 310 in FE (→EE)

..

In A there is no slur over the final fragment of this theme, from bar 306, opening a new line. It must be Chopin's oversight, hence in the main text we include the respective fragment of the FE slur (→EE) as its complement. According to GE, the ending of the A slur in bar 305 suggested that it should be continued, and therefore it was led to the 1st note in bar 306.

b. 305

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

F1-c slur in A, literal reading

F1-e slur in A, possible interpretation

F-e slur in A, contextual interpretation & GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

When interpreted literally, the A slur encompasses more or less the notes ranging from F1 to c; it is undoubtedly inaccurate in this form. In this situation it seems natural to lead it to the end of the bar, yet in the main text we include the interpretation adopted by GE (→FE,EE,IE), in which the slur starts from the 2nd quaver, as Chopin clearly wrote it in a similar context in bar 293 and in the entire group of similar figures in bar 154, 162-163, 166-167, 170-171.

The cautionary flat before ewas added – perhaps by Chopin – in the proofreading of GE (→FEEE).

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Long accents in A

Short accents in GE (→FEEE)

..

In A the accents in bars 306 and 308 are long, which is very clear particularly in bar 308. In spite of this, in GE1 and subsequent editions they were reproduced as short ones.

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Slurs from 2nd quaver in A & GE2

Slurs from 1st quaver in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

Starting the slurs in bars 306 and 308 already from the beginning of the bar is a typical inaccuracy of GE1 (→FEEE). Slurs compliant with A were restored in GE2.
