b. 13

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Demisemiquaver g3 in A

Demisemiquaver f3 in GE (→FEEE)

..

The change of rhythmic values in GE (→FEEE) is probably a result of a mistake of the engraver of GE1, who could have simply committed a mistake or (being certain that in such figures the note after the rest is shortened) could have considered that it was Chopin that made a mistake. A possible proofreading by Chopin seems to be highly unlikely due to the total absence of changes in print. Chopin would use both types of notation in similar situations; sometimes he would hesitate or change his decisions (see the Scherzo in C minor, Op. 39, bar 47). Cf. a similar situation in bar 32, as well as bar 41 and 81.

b. 32

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Demisemiquaver g3 in A (→GE)

Demisemiquaver f3 in FE (→EE)

..

Same as in bar 13, the change of rhythm is probably a result of a mistake or revision, this time of the engraver of FE (→EE). Same as in that case, a possibility of Chopin's proofreading cannot be, however, entirely excluded.

b. 47

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Rhythm in EE & GC (→GE1)

FE & GE2

..

Both versions of the rhythm in that bar are probably authentic. Identical rhythmic differences between those sources also occur in analogous bars 129 and 389. In the main text we give the version of FE, probably the latest one.
In GE2 the rhythm of that bar in the version of FE was introduced in all the analogous places. Such standardization has no justification in the sources.

b. 65

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

Rhythm in A

FE (→GE,EE)

..

The change of the rhythmic configuration in the 1st triplet performed in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE) is an example of a characteristic rhythmic variant, frequently encountered in Chopin's works (cf. Scherzo in C minor, Op. 39, bar 47). The uniform spacing of notes and a small, clearly inserted rest show that initially Chopin wrote a plain semiquaver triplet there, the correction in FE being only the last stage of changes at this place.

b. 129

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Rhythm in EE & GC (→GE1)

Rhythm in FE & GE2

..

Both versions of the rhythm in this bar are probably authentic. Identical differences in rhythm between those sources also occur in analogous bars 47 and 389. As the main text we give the version  of FE, perhaps the latest. The same version was also introduced in GE2.
