As in bars 53-56, the division of the initial slur of AI into 3 shorter ones, encompassing individual motifs, is an element of the change of the general concept of slurring of the middle section of the Mazurka. In the main text we give the later version of FE (→GE,EE). See also bars 64-66. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |

The version of AI with an f minim was replaced by Chopin in [A] by the version of FE (→GE,EE) with a dotted rhythm. However, in FE1, as in bars 58-60, Chopin almost certainly forgot about the raising d to d in the last quaver, as a result of which it is a d. He added this sharp while proofreading FE2 (→EE); the accidental was also independently added by the reviser of GE, and this is the version we give in the main text. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Errors in FE , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FE , Main-line changes |

As was the case with bars 58-60 and 62, Chopin almost certainly forgot here about the raising d to d in the last quaver, hence it is a d. In this case, however, he did not correct this mistake in FE2 (→EE), hence a was added only by the reviser of GE. In the main text we give the version with d, confirmed by AI. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , GE revisions , Omitted correction of an analogous place |

The version of AI is an element of an earlier concept of slurring, discussed in more details in the note on bars 35-36. The difference in the range of the first slur in the version of the editions most probably resulted from an inaccuracy by the engraver of GE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: GE revisions |
