The missing second slur in GE1a may be blamed on the vague notation of GE1 (repeated after FE), in which bar 45, which opens a new page, does not contain the ending of that slur, despite the fact that its shape indicated that it should be continued. Therefore, the engraver of GE1a was not sure how he should lead that slur with b. 44-45 being in one line. The absence of both slurs in GE2 and further is also related to the division into pages – the corners of the plates on which the musical text was engraved would wear down quicker; to remedy this situation, small fragments were engraved anew. Sometimes mistakes were committed while reproducing the text, mostly oversights. This is also the case in the discussed place.
In A, the ending of the second slur reaches the beginning of b. 45, which was not reproduced correctly in FE (→GE1), since there is no ending of the slur in b. 45 (on a new page), although the slur at the end of b. 44 suggests that it should be continued. Therefore, we consider this slur to be an inaccurately engraved slur over the group of 4 quavers, as it was understood in EE.
