Op. 23, Ballade in G minor
Chopin would sometimes use double slurs for pairs of L.H. octaves, e.g. in the Concerto in F minor, Op. 21, mov. III, b. 472-480. However, according to us, in the discussed place of the Ballade one can have doubts whether the top slur added by FE resulted from Chopin's proofreading or from a misunderstanding or a mistake of the engraver.
