b. 31

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

..

FE1 overlooked a quaver flag to the 2nd R.H. octave, f-f1. The mistake was repeated in EE1, and also omitted were the dots prolonging the e-e1 octave. Despite the errors, the correct rhythm results univocally from the alignment of both octaves in relation to the L.H. part. All mistakes were corrected in FE2 and EE2 (→EE3).

b. 50

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

..

Two rhythmic errors crept into FE1 here: at the beginning of the bar a dotted quaver and a semiquaver instead of a dotted semiquaver and demisemiquaver (in both parts) and a quaver triplet instead of a semiquaver triplet in the L.H. The latter was corrected in FE2 and EE1, while EE2 (→EE3) corrected both mistakes.

b. 58-59

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

..

In FE1 there is not a single  raising g to g (in various octaves). The mistake, almost certainly committed by Chopin, was corrected in FE2 and EE with FE2 limiting itself to the g1-g2 octave in b. 58 and L.H. g1 in b. 59. The same applies to b. 291-292.

b. 61-62

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

..

The crotchets visible in the L.H. part at the beginning of b. 61 and 62 in FE1 resulted from the engraver having overlooked a quaver flag or beam. In FE2 and EE1 it was only b. 62 that was corrected, hence in that group of editions it is only EE2 (→EE3) that includes the correct text, compliant with GE1 and analogous b. 294-295. The quaver flag in b. 61 was overlooked in GE2 too.

In the main text we include the dots prolonging the octaves at the beginning of these bars, added in the stage of proofreading of FE2 and EE1. Admittedly, they were not proofread by Chopin, yet his participation in the development of this impression cannot be ruled out completely, while a comparison with the undoubtedly authentic dots in similar b. 37-40 and 65-66 makes us consider that addition to be right.
