b. 56-57
|
composition: Op. 28 No. 24, Prelude in D minor

The slurring of FC (→GE) is one of a few distinct inaccuracies of the copyist, and yet difficult to explain – cf. b. 27-28, 38-39 or 58. In A the slur starting in b. 57 is a tenuto-slur, according to us, and this is how we reproduce it in the main text. At the same time, we include the ambiguous curved line of A at the beginning of b. 58; the shape thereof resembles a tie, but it is placed at the height of a slur. In FE the curved line was not prolonged beyond the a1 crotchet, whereas in EE, due to a routine shift of the mark to the side of noteheads, it became a tie. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors of FC , Tenuto slurs |

In the main text we give the fingering entered into FED, most probably Chopinesque. An identical fingering was added in EE; in addition, it was marked more accurately. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED |

In A (→FE,FC→GE), both in b. 66 and 70, there is no before the 14th note of the roulade (b1). Taking into account the fact that the note was initially preceded by a b2 note written at the same pitch (under an octave sign), we do not consider it a mistake. In the main text we add the accidental; it is also in EE. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in A |

The last time these accompaniment figures appear, Chopin forgot to write a raising g to g. The mistake was noticed only in EE. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in A , Errors repeated in GE , Errors repeated in FE |
